Description
No 18 Calcot is one of two adjoining cottages, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. The building is constructed of roughly coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof. There is a 20th-century artificial stone stack on the stump of the original ashlar stack. The 20th-century extension at the rear is not of special interest. The original range is one and a half storeys high, while the 19th-century extension, which incorporates parts of the earlier range, is two storeys.
On the ground floor of the 19th-century part, there is a single segmental-headed three-light wooden casement window, with a matching three-light wooden casement above it. Both windows have dressed stone surrounds. To the left of the doorway, there is a blocked window with a double-chamfered stone surround. The entrance features a 19th-century plank door set within a segmental-headed porch made of corrugated iron, which has ogee-curved boarding at the front. The gable end of the 19th-century extension has a stack. The interior has not been inspected.
