Description
No 1 Calcot is a detached cottage dating from the 18th century, with later extensions. It is constructed of limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins, featuring a concrete block porch and a stone slate roof, along with a slate roof on the lean-to. The building has a rectangular plan that faces away from the road, with additional extensions to the north-east gable.
The cottage is two storeys high and has successive single-storey extensions. The symmetrical garden front has two windows, which are lit by 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. There is also a 2-light wooden casement located lower right. The central entrance consists of a 19th-century plank door set within a flat-chamfered dressed stone surround, all sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch.
On the roadside front, there is a double-chamfered 2-light stone-mullioned casement on the ground floor and a single light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with leaded panes on the first floor. The lean-to features a four-pane window with a concrete lintel. A gable-end stack is present as well. The interior has not been inspected.
