Description
Calcot Farm is an 18th-century cottage located on the corner of the road to Coln St Dennis. It is one of two cottages originally listed as a cottage owned by H. T. Beak. The building is constructed from limestone rubble with stone slate roofing on the roadside front and concrete tile at the rear. There are restored 20th-century stacks built of dressed stone. The cottage has an 'L' shaped plan, with 1 1/2 storeys and three gablets facing the road. The roadside front features a single double-chamfered stone-mullioned 3-light casement window on the lower right, a 2-light wooden casement on the far left, and three 2-light wooden casements within the gablets. A central 20th-century glass door, beneath a concrete lintel, provides access. The rear has a projecting gable lit by two 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. One of these casements has a stopped hood above it, and fixed leaded panes occupy the right-hand half. A 20th-century lean-to extension to the rear, providing the main access, has double doors with glazing bars. Three 20th-century skylights are also present at the rear. The main body of the cottage is distinguished by a gable-end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
