Description

This is a mid-19th century school and school house, now used as a house and store, located on Ledbury Road, Wellington Heath. The building is constructed of rubble with freestone quoins and dressings, topped with a slate roof. It has brick and rubble stacks with octagonal pots. The overall design is an irregular L-shape, with the school rooms forming a gabled wing to the right. The school house section is a single storey with attic space, featuring two dormers adorned with cusped bargeboards. It has two windows with three lights, each featuring chamfered mullions and surrounds. A 20th-century door and porch are centrally positioned. The school rooms project as a gabled wing, with three-light mullion and transom windows, the tracery embellished with cinquefoil heads. Decorative bargeboards and ridge tiles add detail. A gabled porch projects at the angle of the school rooms, featuring a chamfered doorway with a four-centred head. A decorative, spikey Gothic-style bell turret, topped with a lead spire, is situated at the junction of the two main sections.
