Description
The Old Shop is a former village shop located next to The Old School House. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is built of coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and stone stacks. The building has a rectangular plan, is two storeys tall with an attic, and features a symmetrical facade with three windows. All windows are two-light stone-mullioned casements, and there is a band between the ground and first floor windows. A two-light stone-mullioned garret window is located in the right gable end. The entrance consists of a 19th-century door with fielded panels set within a rectangular flat-chamfered surround, topped by a 4-pane hall light and a gabled weather-boarded canopy. The gable ends have flat coping, with the right stack featuring moulded capping and the left stack repaired in 20th-century artificial stone. The interior has not been inspected.
