Description
The building is a former schoolhouse located in Fowlis, dated 1855 and extended in the 1980s. It is a two-storey structure with a rectangular plan and a three-bay façade. The exterior is finished in harled rubble, with the harling done in the 1980s, and features corniced ashlar end stacks and a slate roof. The front has ten 12-pane casement windows with droved and painted margins. The ground floor windows have canopied lintels, while the first-floor windows are gabled and topped with obelisk finials. The eaves are bracketted.
On the southeast elevation, there is a door with a fanlight and a canopied lintel located in the advanced centre bay, along with a window on the first floor and a heraldic panel at the gable. There are also windows on both the ground and first floors to the left and right.
The northeast elevation features a near free-standing addition at the rear that is out of character with the original building and has a mono-pitch roof.
Inside, the schoolhouse retains its original shutters. The property is enclosed by rubble boundary walls to the east and west.
