Description

Two houses, dating from the early 19th century, are located on Albion Street in Shaldon. The houses are constructed of incised stucco with a slate roof and a rendered stack at the right gable end. They have double-depth plans, with 2-storey rear outshuts. The exterior presents a symmetrical 3-window arrangement. The building features a dentil eaves cornice and sash windows with 6/6 panes at eaves level. The slightly curved bays to either side contain 6/6-pane sash windows in curved frames. The central paired doorcases are distinguished by reeded architraves, roundels in the upper corner blocks, a continuous frieze, and a dentil cornice. The doorcases also have panelled reveals and soffits, with reeded lintels over 6-panel doors and overlights. The interiors were not inspected.
