Description

Kyrena Cottage is a pair of houses located on Middle Street in Shaldon, dating from the early 19th century, although they likely have earlier origins. The exterior features incised stucco and a slate roof with rendered stacks at the gable ends. The buildings have a double-depth plan and are two storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window arrangement.

The windows are 6/6-pane sash windows, with the ones at No.10 on the right being 20th century and featuring horns, except for the central first-floor window at eaves level, which is part of No.10 and has hinged flaps to the jambs, indicating it does not have counterweights. The central doorcases are not paired and have moulded architraves, plain friezes, and moulded cornices. No.9 features a 2-pane overlight, while No.10 has panelled reveals and soffit, along with a six-panel door that is glazed at the top. Both doorcases are flanked by flat-roofed canted bays. The interiors have not been inspected.
