Description
No. 10A on Dagmar Street in Shaldon is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building is constructed of rendered cob on a 2-meter plinth of red sandstone and features a thatched roof. It has an external lateral stack on the front left and a large external stack at the rear of the left wing, which was originally a single-storey structure. The house is arranged in an L-shape with 20th-century additions, and the entrance is now located in the right-hand wing.
The exterior has two storeys and a two-window range. It features 18th or early 19th-century 3/6-pane sash windows at the eaves level, early 19th-century windows on the ground floor, including an 8/8-pane sash window in the center, a 4/8-pane sash window in a former doorway to the right, and a 20th-century door in the right return.
Inside, there is one chamfered crossbeam, an open fireplace in the left corner, and a repositioned 2-panel door that is planked at the rear, likely from the 17th century. The house has been re-roofed, and the pitch has been altered.
