Description

Two houses, dating from the early to mid-19th century and situated on Fore Street in Shaldon. The houses have a double-depth plan. They are rendered with a painted surface and have a late 19th-century crested slate roof, featuring a central ridge stack on the dividing wall. The building presents a symmetrical facade with a 4-window arrangement. Each house comprises a 2-window range, with a doorway positioned to the far left and right. The doorways have curved, reeded pilasters and entablatures, along with overlights. The left doorway is a 20th-century addition, while the right doorway is a 19th-century half-glazed 6-panel door. The first floor windows are 6/6-pane sashes, and the ground floor windows are 8/8-pane sashes. Heavily incised pilasters define the quoins and party wall. Mid-20th-century gabled dormers are present, each containing a 3-light casement window. The interiors were not inspected.
