Description
A pair of houses dating from the early to mid-19th century, located on East Street, Newton Abbot. The houses are rendered in roughcast with a slate roof and rendered stacks at the gable ends. They have double-depth plans. The exterior presents a symmetrical three-window facade. Dormers have shallow hipped roofs and contain a two-light casement window to the left and a three-light window to the right. Architectural details include a bracketed eaves cornice, plain pilasters, and bands marking the eaves and first floor. The six-pane sash windows have thin frames and some crown glass. The paired doorcases feature Coade stone pilasters and voussoirs, with a bearded head mask centrally positioned. Steps lead up to set-back six-panel doors with overlights. The interior was not inspected.
