Description

This is a house, now a shop, dating from the early 19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is part of a significant group of listed buildings along East Street. The exterior is painted stucco with a slate and artificial slate roof, and brick stacks to the gable ends. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with a much altered wing to the rear right. It has two storeys and an attic, and originally had a two-window front, although this has been altered with the addition of 20th-century dormers and latticed windows to the first and ground floors. A flat-arched carriage entrance is on the left, with an early 19th-century doorcase in the centre, featuring pilasters, an entablature, and an overlight. Internally, the front room retains a moulded cornice, and the rear staircase has a closed string with stick balusters and a turned newel.
