Description

7 and 8 Canal Grove are a pair of early 19th-century houses located in Southwark. They are constructed of stucco and feature a low-pitched hipped slate roof with projecting eaves over the central section, while the side entrance sections have separate, slightly lower hips. The houses are two storeys tall and consist of two bays each. The doors are adorned with fluted quarter columns, reeded impost blocks, and a continuous, broken back, reeded cornice head. The original door of No. 7 has centre panels that are glazed and includes a decorative fanlight. The sash windows have glazing bars, with the windows in the central section framed by architraves that include cornices for the ground-floor windows. The windows above the doors in the outer sections have plain reveals. The interior has not been inspected. Nos. 2-9 Canal Grove form a group of buildings of special architectural interest.
