Description
2 and 3 Canal Grove are a pair of early 19th-century houses located in Southwark. They are constructed of stucco and feature a low-pitched, hipped slate roof with paired brackets at the projecting eaves. Each house is two storeys high and has two bays, with subsidiary hips over the set-back entrance sections on either side.
No. 2 has an enclosed porch on the ground floor, which includes a round central arched door flanked by round-headed windows that have Gothick glazing bars. No. 3 features a round-arched door adorned with fluted Tuscan quarter columns and a reeded cornice head that is continuous with, and broken back from, the reeded impost blocks; the fanlight above the door is blind. Both houses have sash windows with glazing bars set in plain reveals, with the ground-floor windows of No. 3 being round-headed and featuring impost blocks. There is a band above the ground floor.
The interior has not been inspected. Nos. 2-9 Canal Grove form a group of buildings of special architectural interest.
