Description
No. 706 on Dorchester Road is a detached house dating from the early to mid 19th century. It features coursed rubble construction, with some areas rough rendered, and an asbestos-cement slate roof. The building is compact, oriented gable-end to the street, and includes a lower wing set back to the right. It has two storeys and an attic.
On the front, there is a four-pane sash window above a flat oriel bow window with a configuration of 4:20:4 panes. The ground floor has a 16-pane sash window set in brick jambs with a concrete lintel, all in exposed rubble. The gable displays a wavy barge-board. The set-back wing features a 12-pane sash window above a two-light small-pane casement, both with segmental heads. In the re-entrant angle, there is a lean-to porch with a glazed door and a small light to the left in the main range. Each range has a gable stack. The interior has not been inspected.
