Description

Dorset Cottage is a house located in a row of similar buildings in Upwey, Weymouth. It dates from the early 18th century and is constructed of painted rubble with a concrete tile roof that has replaced the original thatch. The cottage is two storeys high and features three windows arranged in a group of one above two. At the first floor, there are three-light wooden casements with a horizontal glazing bar, while the ground floor has two small-pane casement flat oriels from the 20th century, which flank a plank door that has a square inserted light. The roof is very steep and includes a tall, slender chimney stack on the left side, which has been raised to clear a later adjacent building. The interior has not been inspected.
