Description

No. 56 Elwell Street is a house in a row, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of squared and coursed Portland stone with a slate roof. The building has a narrow frontage and stands two storeys high, featuring two windows. The top floor has three-light wood casements with a horizontal bar, while the ground floor has a replacement window, both set beneath haunched brick segmental heads. A central 19th-century flush-panelled door is located under a glazed gabled porch, with an additional opening to the left providing access to a clear throughway. The roof has a very low pitch and deep eaves soffit, with a brick stack positioned to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
