Description
A pair of cottages at 72 and 74 East Street, Corfe Castle, originally a single house dating from the late 16th to early 17th century. The cottages are constructed of rubble stone with thatched roofs and a brick stack located to the left of the centre. They are one storey and attic in height. Number 72 features a ledged door with a glass panel, a ground-floor UPVC window, and two dormers with windows matching the style of the door. Number 74 has a ledged door set within a four-centred arched opening, a ground-floor horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars, and a single dormer with a sash window sharing a similar design – featuring glazing bars only in the centre. The building may have originated as an open-hall house.
