Description
Nos. 64 and 66 on East Street are a pair of cottages, with the original section of No. 64 and part of No. 66 dating from the early 18th century, while the remainder of No. 66 is from the late 18th to early 19th century. The cottages have rubble stone walls and stone slate roofs, with brick stacks at the ends and in the center. They are part one storey and attic, and part two storeys and attic.
No. 64 features a projecting two-storeyed porch with upper walls made of brick and a brick stack in the front left corner. There is a blocked doorway in the porch under a segmental arch, and to the right of the porch is a ledged door. Both the ground and first floors have one casement window each, complete with glazing bars.
No. 66 also has a ledged door, with two casement windows with glazing bars on the ground floor and one similar casement window on the first floor. The attic includes two gabled dormers, each with similar casement windows. Inside, the main ground floor room has a large open fireplace with a cambered timber lintel, and there are some exposed ceiling beams.
