Description
Nos. 82 and 84 East Street are a pair of cottages located at the left end of a terrace in Corfe Castle, originally built as one house, likely in the 17th century. The cottages feature rubble stone walls and stone slate roofs, with a stone stack at the left end and a brick stack at the right end. They are one storey high with an attic.
The original central doorway, now the entrance to No. 82, has a flush door set under a gauged arch. To the right of this entrance, No. 82 has a ground floor casement window with glazing bars, also under a similar arch. The attic includes a pent-roofed dormer with casements that have glazing bars. To the left of the doorway, No. 84 has a ground floor casement window with glazing bars under a gauged arch, and its attic features a pent-roofed dormer with similar casements. There is a later lean-to extension at the left end, which contains the entrance to No. 84, featuring a ledged door. This property is managed by the National Trust.
