Description

This building in Padstow is a warehouse, dating from the early to mid-19th century, later converted into three shops with flats situated above. It was partially remodelled in the late 20th century. The construction is stone rubble with an asbestos slate-hung front, and the roof is slate with hipped ends.

Originally built as a warehouse with a rectangular plan, the building is set into the side of a steep slope. It features a three-storey and attic front elevation and a two-storey rear elevation, the latter reflecting the rising ground level. The ground floor is now divided into three shops, with private domestic accommodation on the upper floors. The front elevation has a regular three-window arrangement. The ground floor features 20th-century shop windows in altered openings, while the first floor has three two-light casement windows, with a further three windows above. Two full hipped dormers, each with a two-light casement, are present in the attic. A canted corner is visible on the front right-hand side, and a two-storey rear elevation extends to the south.

The interior was largely gutted and remodelled during the mid to late 20th century.
