Description
Mill House Flats is a warehouse, dating from the early 19th century, that was enlarged in the mid-19th century and converted to flats in 1985. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone with ashlar dressings, surmounted by a slate roof with overhanging eaves and a single brick gable stack. A rough stone plinth and quoins are present, along with horizontal bands. The north elevation has five windows, with a former loft doorway to each floor, now blocked with timber boarding and containing a small fixed light. Either side of these doorways are two 2-light casement windows on each floor. The east gable, facing the river, has three windows, all 2-light casements from the 20th century. The west gable, partially concealed by an adjoining building, has single openings; on the ground floor, a 20th-century plank door, and above, a single 2-light casement window. The south elevation, partly obscured by a later brick addition, has two windows. To the left, former loft doorways on each floor have been replaced by casement windows with boarded panels between. To the right is a 2-light casement window on each floor. A brick wing to the south has 2-light casement windows throughout.
