Description
No. 5 Bridge Street is a Grade II listed building from the 18th century. It stands three storeys tall, constructed of coursed rubble with a pantile roof featuring three brick stacks, one of which is modern. The building has a fire plaque and two windows on the upper floors, each with three lights and sliding sashes that include glazing bars, set beneath lintels with keystones. The ground floor features a similar lintel above a modern door, a modern window, and a shallow canted bay with glazing bars and a moulded cornice. The building also has rusticated quoins at one corner and a coped gable.
No. 5 Bridge Street is part of a group that includes Nos. 1 and 2, the premises formerly occupied by John Hague, the Rose Inn, Nos. 5 to 8 consecutively, and the Masonic Hall.
