Description
St Decumans is a house with railings at the front, built around the late 18th century. It features a painted brick front in an irregular English bond and a cement washed scantle slate roof, which has a gable end on the left and a hipped end on the right.
The building has a double depth plan with a central entrance and two main rooms at the front, heated by end stacks, while shallow service rooms are located at the rear. The ground slopes steeply to the right, providing a separate entrance to the basement.
The house is two storeys high, with a basement and attic, and has a regular three-window front. A flight of steps leads up to the central entrance, which has a late 18th-century panelled door and an original doorcase with fluted pilasters. To the left of the entrance is a blind window, and to the right is a 19th-century 12-pane sash window. Below the main entrance is the basement, which features an 18th or early 19th-century panelled door and a 20th-century window to the right. On the first floor, there are three original hornless 12-pane sash windows. The attic includes two full hipped dormers with 19th-century two-light casements and fleur-de-lys ridge tiles. The front of the property is enclosed by 19th-century iron railings.
