Description

No. 3 and 5, including the railings and gate in front, is a house that has been divided into two homes, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a slate roof with a hipped end on the left and a gable end on the right.

The original layout is uncertain, but it likely had a double depth plan with a central entrance and two principal rooms at the front, heated by end stacks, with narrow service rooms at the rear. Currently, No. 5 is on the right, which includes the central entrance, the principal room on the right, and a service room at the back. No. 3 is on the left, comprising the principal room on the left and a service room at the rear, with the entrance for the adjoining property, No. 1, The Tastebud, located to the left.

The exterior is two stories high and features an almost symmetrical three-window front, with complete early 19th-century hornless 12-pane sash windows. The central entrance has a panelled door with an original doorcase and fanlight, flanked by two sashes, with three additional sashes above. There is a moulded eaves cornice.

The front also includes 19th-century wrought-iron railings and a gate, with shafts that have pierced finials and a central gate featuring a braced mid-rail and stanchions with iron finials. The interior has not been inspected.
