Description
A pair of shops with living accommodation above, likely dating from the early 19th century. The ground floor is rendered and stuccoed, while the upper floor is timber-framed and slate-hung. The roof is covered in rag slate and features hipped ends.
The shop on the left, formerly T Henwood & Sons, has a single-room depth plan with a 19th-century shop front on the ground floor and accommodation above. The shop on the right, now The Strand Bookshop, has a double-depth plan, with its right-hand wall forming part of a small courtyard's east wall.
The front of the building has a regular three-window arrangement. The left-hand shop retains a late 19th-century shop front. Above it are two windows with removed glazing. The Strand Bookshop has a 20th-century window on the ground floor, also with removed glazing, and a 20th-century window in the opening for a 12-pane sash on the first floor.
The ground-floor internal partition within The Strand Bookshop has been removed.
