Description

This is a shop with living accommodation above, likely dating from the early 19th century, with a late 19th-century shop front. It is located on the south side of High Street, Crediton. The front is stuccoed and has a Roman tile roof, gabled at the ends, with brick stacks. The building has a double-depth plan.

It is three storeys high, with deep eaves supported by decorative brackets. The late 19th-century shop front features plain pilasters and a fascia with a shallow cornice. There are doors on either side of the shop front; the right-hand door is glazed above a low panel and has a 2-pane overlight. The left-hand doorway has been converted into a shop window in the 20th century. Above the shop front is a 19th-century shop window with a high transom and four panes above. The first and second floors each have two 16-pane sash windows, with the second-floor sashes being replacements that include horns. An entrance to a flat, originally to the left of the shop front, is now located at the rear. The ground floor has been altered for shop use, but interesting features may remain on the upper floors.
