Description
A house and adjoining cottage, likely dating from the mid-18th century, now used as a doctor's surgery. The buildings are arranged in a U-shaped plan, with a rear lean-to addition dating to the 20th century. The main house has a symmetrical three-bay front, while the cottage to the right has a lower roof line and deeper eaves with paired eaves brackets. The main house originally had two rooms and a central entrance passage. The front of the house is stuccoed, with a slate roof and a brick chimney stack. The central front door is recessed, with a doorcase featuring pilasters with sunk round-headed panels and reveals with fielded panels. The windows are tripartite sashes; the central light of the ground-floor windows is eight-pane, and the outer lights are four-pane. A replacement window with horns exists on the left ground floor. The first-floor centre window is a twelve-pane sash. The cottage to the right has a horned tripartite sash window to both the first and second floors. There are four attic dormers, each glazed with a two-pane, two-light casement. The ground floor of the main house has been altered for surgery use, but retains a plaster cornice on the left side and a marble chimney-piece on the right. Further features may survive on the first floor.
