Description
No. 84 High Street is a house, likely built in the 1820s. It has a cement-rendered exterior and a slate roof, with brick stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and is one room wide, standing three storeys tall. The front is asymmetrical with two bays and features regular window placement. It has deep eaves supported by brackets, which are partly hidden by a later fascia. There are platbands at the sill level of the first and second floors. All windows are framed by segmental-headed recesses, with narrow bands at the springing of the arches. The doorway on the left has a recessed five-panel door with panelled reveals and a fanlight with teardrop glazing bars. The windows are early 19th century, fitted with hornless sashes: a 16-pane sash on the ground floor right, two 16-pane sashes on the first floor, and two 3/6-pane sashes on the second floor. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to have interesting features.
