Description

Nos. 11 and 13 Market Street is a house that has been divided into two residences. It features an early 19th-century front that was added to a 17th-century structure. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with the front made of random bond brick set on an irregular stone ashlar plinth. It has a gabled stone slate roof, with concrete tiles on the rear, and brick stacks at the ridge and ends. The layout consists of three units, with two storeys and an attic, and a three-window range.

The left side has a flat brick arch over a 20th-century door, while the right side has a flat brick arch with wrought-iron brackets supporting a flat hood over a 19th-century half-glazed door located slightly to the right of the center. Similar flat arches are found over early 19th-century eight-pane sash windows and late 19th-century two-light casement windows above. There are also two late 19th-century gabled roof dormers. At the rear, there is an outshut with a Welsh slate roof and an early 19th-century outbuilding with a stone slate roof.

Inside No. 6, there are 17th-century quartered beams and a stop-chamfered post on the right, along with an early 19th-century collar-truss roof featuring cambered collars. No. 6 was previously part of a brewhouse complex that extended to the rear. No. 4 was not inspected. The building is included for its group value.
