Description

The Woodstock Arms Public House is a building that consists of two houses, now serving as a public house. The structure dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century on the right side (No. 6) and early 18th century on the left side (No. 8). No. 6 is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled Welsh slate roof, with 19th and 20th century brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range. There is a flat stone arch with scrolled wrought-iron brackets supporting a flat hood over a 20th century central door. The windows have flat stone arches above early 19th century eight-pane sashes and a horned late 19th century plate-glass sash on the right. The building also has three late 19th century gabled roof dormers with two-light casements.

No. 8 is made from similar materials, featuring dressed masonry on the front and a brick end stack. It also has a two-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a five-window range. A flat stone arch is located over a 19th century six-panelled door in the centre, with mid to late 19th century two-pane sashes. There are two mid to late 19th century hipped roof dormers. At the rear, there are 18th century two-storey wings, with an external end stack of stone finished in brick for No. 8. Inside No. 8, there are chamfered beads and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. The first floor has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
