Description
Rose Cottage consists of two adjoining houses built around the early 19th century. The exterior features painted rubble walls with granite dressings, and No. 2 has some slate hanging at the front and rear. No. 1 has a hipped roof made of scantle slate, while No. 2 has an asbestos slate hipped roof. Both houses have cast-iron ogee-section gutters.
The layout includes two similarly sized houses, each with a two-room plan. The left-hand house, No. 1, is attached to the earlier No. 3 Rose Cottage, which is positioned at right angles in front of it. The right-hand house, No. 2, has a slightly deeper plan and includes a through passage between the rooms, with the stair likely located behind the left-hand room. No. 1 is probably the older of the two.
The exterior is two storeys high, featuring an overall four-window front facing southwest. No. 1 has a symmetrical three-window front with a central doorway on the right and original 16-pane hornless sash windows. No. 2 has a single-window front on the left with a 20th-century ledged door and late 19th-century horned sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
