Description
Rose Cottage is a pair of attached houses built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The exterior is made of painted rubble, topped with slate roofs featuring gable end stacks. The houses are arranged with No. 1 on the left and No. 2 on the right, likely designed with a double depth plan.
No. 1 has a central entrance with a front room on both the left and right sides. It features two windows: a 2-light casement with 10 panes in each light at both the ground and first floors, and a canted bay to the right that has four similar casements on each floor, topped with a cornice. The entrance is through central double doors set in a gabled wooden porch. To the left, there is a single-storey lean-to with a late 20th-century multi-pane casement and a half-glazed door.
No. 2 has two similar casements at the first floor, with a door featuring a hood to the left and a similar casement at the ground floor to the right. The left gable end has a chamfered corner on the right side, and there is a lean-to attached to the rear. The rear of No. 1 includes a door and a 2-light casement, along with a rear lateral stack, while the rear of No. 2 has a half-glazed door and a lean-to on the right end. The interior has not been inspected.
