Description
Apple Tree Cot is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations made in the late 18th or early 19th century and the 20th century. It is constructed of rubble and rendered, topped with an asbestos slate roof that features a gable end stack on the left and a rear lateral stack on the right, which is enclosed by a rear wing.
The building has a central entrance leading into a passage, with a room to the right and a smaller room to the left. The staircase is located in the room to the right, backing onto the passage. To the right, there is a two-storey service wing. The house has two storeys; on the ground floor, there is a four-panelled door to the left of centre, a 12-pane sash window to the left, and a two-light casement window to the right. The first floor features a small six-pane window in the centre and a nine-pane window to the right. At the rear, the two-storey wing from the late 19th century creates a parallel rear range, with three-light casements on both the ground and first floors on the inner side. The rear of the main range includes a passage door with a four-pane sash window to the right and a two-light casement window on the first floor.
Inside, the passage is adorned with panelling and has a door with strap hinges leading to the rear. The room to the right contains a winder stair with a cupboard underneath, which features a two-panelled fielded door with L hinges. The staircase itself has fielded panelling on the sides.
