Description

Smugglers Inn is an inn dating from the mid-18th century, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of rubble and rendered, topped with an asbestos slate roof that has a gable end stack on the right. Originally, it consisted of two houses, with the left side featuring a higher roof level and each house having a central entrance. The internal layout has been significantly altered.

Each house has three storeys; the left side has three windows, with the ground floor featuring a door made of two vertical panels and wide six-pane sashes on either side, all topped with a continuous band course. On the first and second floors, there are three twelve-pane sashes, which are 20th-century replacements, with a wide projecting bay between the central window and the flanking windows. The house on the right has a similar door, with sashes on either side, and two four-pane sashes on the first and second floors.

Attached to the right is a lower two-storey wing that includes a 20th-century door and a three-light window with a segmental head and brick surround, along with a 20th-century two-light window on the first floor. The right side has a gable end stack. At the rear, the block on the left features a 20th-century window, door, and four-pane sash, while the right block is two storeys high at the rear, following the slope of the ground, and has all 20th-century windows.
