Description

The Cabin is a house dated 1794, located on Garrett Street in Cawsand. It features a mix of rubble and rendered surfaces, with a slate-hung front and a hipped slate roof on the left, while the rear roof is covered in asbestos slates. The entrance is off-centre to the left, leading into a passage with rooms on either side and an integral two-storey service wing to the left. A staircase is located at the rear right.

The building has two storeys above a cellar and includes a porch that is off-centre to the left, featuring a glazed front and a single-pane light, with a 20th-century door to the side and an inner panelled and glazed door. There are two-pane sash windows on both sides, and two gabled dormers, each also with two-pane sashes. At the rear, there is a separate hipped roof over the rear wing, which has a 20th-century window at both the ground and first floors.

Inside, the entrance passage has had the left wall removed, and there is vertical panelling on the partition wall to the right, along with a two-panelled door. The front door is fitted with strap hinges. The room to the right features vertical panelling, a dado rail, a 20th-century fireplace at the rear, and a cupboard built into the wall on the right. At the rear, there is a winder stair with ovolo-moulded panelling on the side wall. On the first floor, there is more vertical panelling and two-panelled fielded doors with left-hand hinges. The front right room includes a corner cupboard with a fretwork cornice and fielded panelled doors.
