Description
Dorset House is a house dating from around 1750, with 19th and 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of rubble that is rendered and lined out, with sandstone rubble on the left side and an asbestos slate roof featuring a brick ridge stack. The entrance is located to the left, leading to a double depth plan with a single room at the front and rear, each heated by the ridge stack. There is a two-storey addition at the rear left.
The building has two storeys and one window on the front. The ground floor features a 20th-century door and a four-pane sash window with Gothic margin glazing, which is one of the few remaining examples of the Kingsand/Cawsand type window, similar to those found at Spring Cottage on Heavitree Road and No. 4 Fore Street. The first floor has a 20th-century four-pane sash window. Inside, there is a panelled partition wall on the ground floor and a winder stair located at the rear of the front room, although the interior has been significantly altered.
