Description

BENTHAM LOW BENTHAM SD 66 NW 5/6 Punch Bowl Inn 10.7.73 GV II Inn. Early C18, with C19 and C20 alterations. Squared rubble, painted stone dressings. Slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Entrance to left of centre in porch with 2 pillars; 6 panel door. Left-hand bay has mid-late C19 window with plain surround in each storey, 6 pane sashes on ground floor, C20 casements on upper floor. Bay to right of centre has former early C18 3-light window on ground floor mullions now gone and similar window on upper floor which retains flat-faced mullions; sashes without glazing bars. Right-hand bay beyond quoins is extension and contains a mid-late C19 window in each storey. Left-hand gable end quoins, Left-hand gable end ridge stack and stack at former right-hand gable. In c1984 outshut to right is a repositioned decorated lintel inscribed IW: 1670.
