Description

This building is a warehouse located at 45-46 Timber Bush in Edinburgh, dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a five-storey, seven-bay structure that has been sympathetically converted into flats. The exterior features cream sandstone with coursed and squared rubble at the front, while the rear and side are made of squared and snecked rubble, with droved dressings and eaves bands.

On the northwest (front) elevation, there is a segmental-arched pend in the centre bay, a door opening at the first floor, and single windows above. To the outer right bay, there is a doorway with a blocked fanlight and single windows above. The sixth bay from the left has loading door openings on each floor, with a window at ground level and a door on the fourth floor that breaks the eaves in a gabled dormer head, featuring a pulley mechanism and modern hinged loading platforms. The remaining bays have single windows.

The southeast (rear) elevation is five bays wide, with single windows and a pend opening to the centre that is glazed. There are three rectangular modern dormers and a balcony recessed into the roof pitch on the left side.

The northeast elevation is three bays wide, gabled with an apex stack, and has single windows.

The building features modern timber casement and hopper windows, along with some 12-pane sash and case windows. It has a slate roof with an apex stack and a metal flue. The interior was not seen in 1993.
