Description
The Harbour Inn is a public house located on Strand Street in Padstow. It likely dates from the 18th century, although it may have earlier origins. The front of the building was remodeled in the mid to late 19th century. The ground floor is rendered, probably over stone rubble, while the upper part is likely a softwood timber frame that is slate hung. The roof is slate with gable ends.
The building has an especially deep plan that now forms one large bar, with 19th-century extensions at the rear. It stands three stories tall and features a regular window arrangement of one window to the left and three windows to the right, with probably late 19th-century sashes. The lower lights have had their glazing bars removed. The entrance is located to the left of center and features a possibly 19th-century panelled door. There are canted bay windows from the 19th century on both sides of the entrance, with a sash window beyond on the right. The first and second floors have double sashes on the right and three sashes on the left. A band of decorative fish scale slates is present between the first and second floors.
Inside, the ground floor has had its partitions removed, but some heavy 18th-century joists remain.
