Description
The Dolphin Hotel is a public house located on Arwenack Street in Falmouth, dating from the early 19th century. The building features incised stucco on what is likely rubble, with rusticated quoins and a sill band at the second floor. It has a dry slate hipped roof with projecting eaves and brick end stacks. The hotel has a double-depth plan and stands four storeys tall with a three-window range. The upper floors have 20th-century horned sash windows, while the central second-floor window is blind. The first floor has earlier 20th-century windows, and the ground floor features a shop front that was copied in 1992. The left-hand return of the building has a two-window range with original 16-pane hornless sashes on the upper floors and mid to late 19th-century canted oriels on the first floor. The original pilastered doorway, located on the right side of the ground floor, has a moulded entablature and a pair of round-arched doors. The interior has not been inspected.
