Description
The Prince of Wales Hotel is a public house located in Falmouth, dating from the early 19th century. It features textured stucco on studwork with plain details, smooth-rendered rusticated quoins, jambs, sill and lintel strings, and a dry slate roof with projecting eaves. The building has brick end stacks and a double-depth plan. It stands three storeys tall and has a one-to-two window range, showcasing original 12-pane and 16-pane hornless sash windows. The ground floor includes a keyed round arch to a carriage entrance on the left, while the rest of the façade features a full-width moulded entablature with a fascia and a left-hand return, above a 20th-century remodelled transomed four-light double shop front with small panes below the transoms. There is a house doorway on the right, adorned with consoles over pilasters. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
