Description
The Kimberley Public House is a public house located on Killigrew Street in Falmouth. It was probably built in the early 19th century, with the shop front likely fitted or remodeled in the mid to late 19th century. The building features textured stucco on studwork, with smooth-rendered rusticated jambs, sill bands, and lintel bands. It has a grouted scantle slate roof with projecting eaves and is designed on a double-depth corner-site plan with a rounded corner on the left.
The structure stands three storeys high and has a three-window range with original 16-pane hornless sash windows. The ground floor boasts a full-width, unaltered 8-light double shop front from the mid to late 19th century, which includes 2-pane basket-arched lights with slender turned mullions, end pilasters, and flanking doorways. The tall moulded entablature features a fascia, moulded sills, and curved glass at the bowed corner. There is a basket-arched 2-pane overlight above the central shop doorway, which has a pair of panelled doors with arched top panels. Additionally, there is a house doorway at the far right, complete with an overlight and a glazed door. The interior has not been inspected.
