Description
No. 4 Webber Street is a town house or possibly a merchant's house with a later shop, dating from the 17th or 18th century. It features textured stucco or render on studwork and has a steep asbestos slate roof, along with a hipped roof that has projecting eaves on the wing. The building has a single-depth plan with a rear outshut and a short wing, which is likely the original porch; the plan may be truncated on the right side. It stands three storeys high with a window arrangement of 1:1. The windows are early 19th or 20th century copies of hornless sashes with glazing bars. The ground floor includes a small old projecting shop front on the left with a canted 6-pane window and a panelled under sill, along with a glazed door. There is also a larger, altered late 19th century double shop front that projects on three sides to the wing, featuring end consoles to a sloping fascia and plate glass windows. Additionally, there is a mid-20th century extension to the shop front on the right-hand return, which includes a large panelled fascia and lights with arched corners. The interior has not been inspected.
