Description
Nos. 42 and 43 Arwenack Street is a town house with later shops, dating from the early 19th century. The exterior features render that has replaced the original stucco, with an asbestos slate hipped roof that has projecting eaves. There is a rear wing with a dry slate roof, along with a brick lateral stack to the rear left and a brick gable stack to the wing. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a three-window range. The original windows are 12-pane hornless sashes, which are also found on a one-window return on the right side. The ground floor includes two late 19th-century shop fronts beneath a full-width moulded entablature that continues over a three-light return of the larger corner shop (No. 42) on the right. No. 43 features original basket-arched lights, and both shops have end pilasters. The interior has not been inspected.
