Description
45 and 45A Arwenack Street is a town house with later shops, dating from the 18th century and featuring alterations from the late 19th century. The building is constructed of killas rubble and has shallow segmental brick arches, topped by a steep dry slate roof. It has a brick end stack on the left and a shared rendered stack on the right. The layout is single-depth with rear wings, and it stands two storeys tall with a four-window range. The late 19th century windows are four-pane horned sashes. The ground floor has a moulded cornice and fascia above an altered late 19th century double shop front with end pilasters. There are original four-panel doors, with the house doorway on the left and a shop doorway centrally located between the windows. Slender turned cast-iron columns flank the shop doorway, and there is a transomed window to the left of the doorway, along with a recessed 20th century window on the right. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
