Description

Nos 19 and 20 South Terrace are early 19th century buildings that have been stuccoed and altered over time. They rise four storeys and include a basement with an area. Number 20 features a shallow bow and has a total of four sash windows, three of which are on No 20. The ground floor showcases horizontal channelling, while the first floor is distinguished by moulded quoins, architraves around the windows, and a band that spans the second and third floors, framed by fluted pilasters. The second floor displays bracketed pediments over the windows, with the central window of No 20 having a segmental pediment and scalloped sills. All windows are adorned with exterior fringed pelmets. The buildings are topped with a cornice and parapet.

No 20 also has a return to Norfolk Road, featuring the same architectural treatment as the front, with three sash windows, exterior pelmets, and alternating segmental and triangular pediments on the first, second, and third floors, along with a cornice and blocking course. There is a solid porch at No 20, supported by paired Corinthian pilasters, with a cornice and parapet above. Additionally, No 20 has a three-storey, four-window stucco extension on Norfolk Road, and beyond this is a two-storey, top-lit lodge with a bay window on the first floor, also located on Norfolk Road.

Nos 3 to 20 South Terrace and the East Garden Wall of No 3 form a cohesive group.
