Description
Nos 1 and 2 Island Terrace is an early 19th-century, two-storey stucco terrace row. The building features pilasters and sash windows, with No 1 and No 3 having sash windows at the first floor that now only have centre glazing bars. No 1 has one sash window on the ground floor to the left and a shop on the right with a wooden case featuring medium panes with arched heads.
No 2 includes two storeys and an attic, with a verandah supported by cast iron columns and a slate roof above a central four-panel door. To the left is a shop window, and to the right is a splay bay window, along with sash windows that have glazing bars. Nos 3 and 4 have a first-floor band and two sash windows each at the first floor, with exposed frames and centre glazing bars. No 3 features an ogee bracket eaves cornice, while No 4 has a rope moulded eaves cornice. Both have square porches.
No 5, dating from around 1830-1835, has a cast iron balcony on the east face at the first floor with rounded flanks, a glazed porch at the front, and incised ornamentation on the angle pilasters. The ground floor features sash windows with remaining glazing bars.
Nos 1 to 5 form a group.
