Description
Nos 2-4 River Head is a terrace of houses dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature timber eaves brackets and pantiled roofs. Each house is two storeys high and has two bays, except for No 2, which has an additional half bay and a service door to the right.
The doors are from the 20th century and are set under blocked fanlights in panelled reveals, with pilastered doorcases topped by dentilled pediments. On the ground floor, No 2 has a 16-pane sash window with a sill and wedge lintel, No 3 has a similar 4-pane sash, and No 4 features a 20th-century window. On the first floor, No 2 has a sash window with glazing bars under a wedge lintel on the left, and a similar 16-pane sash on the right. Nos 3 and 4 have similar 4-pane sashes throughout. The terrace has a stepped eaves cornice with paired brackets on Nos 3 and 4, axial stacks, and plain close verges.
