Description
Nos 2-5 Coburg Terrace is a terrace of four houses located above road level in Ilfracombe, dating from the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco and topped with slate roofs. Each house has three storeys and two windows, one of which is blind. The entrances are round-arched, featuring panelled part-glazed doors and fanlights; No. 5 has radial bars, while No. 3 boasts a completely panelled door and an attractive radial web patterned fanlight. The entrances for Nos 3 and 4 are paired under an elliptical arch, with doors on either side of a central fluted pilaster that supports a ribbed spandrel above the fanlights. Each house includes a canted three-light oriel window at the first floor level and a blind window above the entrance. The houses have recessed sashes of various dates, but Nos 3 and 5 still retain their original 16-pane hornless sashes at the ground floor. The interiors have not been inspected. All the listed buildings on Fore Street form a group.
